Dynamically Saved by the LordWhen I was born, my parents had already been in the local church for some years. Throughout my early years I attended children’s meetings, where we would talk about Bible stories and the lessons we could learn from them. When I was eleven, we moved to Washington, and it was here that I really began to know the Lord in a personal way.
Up until this point, I simply followed my parents to meet with the local church. It was my parent’s church; I did not know the Lord in a real, personal way. This all changed when I attended a camp for fourth through seventh graders, which was arranged by the local churches in the Puget Sound area. It was a three-day camp that was like many camps – we had much free time to do what we wanted: swimming, crafts, sports, etc. But, we also had meetings at least every night. I vividly remember that one of those nights the serving brothers preached the gospel to all of us. We were in an outdoor amphitheater, and a giant bonfire was up in front where the brother was speaking. He spoke about Jesus, and all that He did for us. I was greatly touched, and afterwards I was one of the people who went forward to pray personally with a brother. I received the Lord in a dynamic, definite way.
Laying in my bed that night, I remember feeling loved and cherished by the Lord. From that time on, I began to touch the Lord in a personal way through all the meetings held by the church in my locality. I can really testify that this has kept and preserved me to this day.
